Arriving in Don Muang International Airport to AIT
Most participants will be arriving at Don Muang International Airport. The best option to go to AIT is via metered taxi from Don Muang Airport. Once you’re out of baggage claim and through customs, follow the signs on that level that say ‘Taxi’ toward the metered taxi stand. These taxis are regulated by the airport and they must use the meter. Note that there is a 50 Baht surcharge on top of the fare. Estimated cost of metered taxi from Don Muang Airport to AIT is Baht 300-400 (US$ 8-11), including the surcharge of Baht 50 (US$ 1.4). Please print the address of AIT both in English and Thai and show to the taxi reception and driver.

Arriving in Suvarnabhumi International Airport to AIT
A few particiapnts will arrive at Suvarnabhumi International Airport which is located about 67 km from AIT. Again the best option to go to AIT is via metered taxi located at the ground floor or level 1. Passengers arriving at Suvarnabhumi airport enter the arrivals hall on Level 2. To catch a public taxi (known as a taxi-meter) you need to go down to Level 1. Make your own way down to Level 1 following the signs for public taxis. Using a meter taxi is the cheapest and most commonly used option for taking a cab Suvarnabhumi airport. Signs at the airport are in English in addition to Thai to help make things smoother for tourists. The first thing you need to do is make sure you choose the right queue/lane to get your ticket. The lanes are:
- Short-distance (for hotels and locations close to the airport e.g. Lat Krabang)
- Regular taxi (standard sized car suitable for 1 or 2 passengers with small luggage)
- Big taxi (larger vehicle suitable for more than 2 people or those with larger luggage)
Money exchange
It is best to exchange your local currency to US$ dollar before leaving your home country. Absolutely, do not bring Pesos, Rupiah, etc in Bangkok because the rate is extremely low. Bring US$ dollar and exchange some money enough for the taxi at the airport, say US$ 30-40. It is advisable to exchange your US$ to Baht at a Thai bank. We can help you find a bank to do the exchange.
